Lock Joint Tube is a national manufacturer of mechanical and structural grade tubing located in South Bend, IN. As a continuous process manufacturer, Lock Joint Tube has always aimed to increase its production uptime. One of the major barriers to uptime are long changeovers necessary when switching between production of different tubes. The iNDustry Labs team worked with Lock Joint Tube to identify root causes of long changeovers and develop potential solutions to reduce their length and complexity. The team also developed a business case and identified technology vendors to aid improvements.
This project resulted in an estimated $4.6M 3-year profit increase while at the same time improving changeover safety.
