GOSHEN — Ivy Tech Community College South Bend-Elkhart will officially break ground next week on its new high-tech manufacturing training facility at its Elkhart County location.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the iFLEX Lab will be hosted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The 10,000-square-foot facility will built on the east side of campus, adjacent to Mervin and Dorothy Lung Hall at 22531 County Road 18 in Goshen.

The iFLEX Lab will provide workforce training in advanced manufacturing, creating more opportunities for Ivy Tech to support residents of the local community in earning degrees or certificates in pathways including automation, robotics and internet-based manufacturing.

A $1 million grant was also awarded to Ivy Tech from the Labs for Industry Futures and Transformation (LIFT) Network, a partnership led by the University of Notre Dame and the South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership, which is paid for by a $42.4 million Lilly Endowment Inc. grant.
