The LIFT Network

iNDustry Labs is a proud member of the region’s Labs for Industry Futures and Transformation (LIFT) Network, a collaborative platform that provides cutting-edge expertise, technologies, workforce development programs, and innovation-based facilities for collaboration across higher education, community, and industry partners in support of in support of a more prosperous, resilient, and skilled region.

With nine colleges and universities, numerous leading workforce and training providers, and a concentration of resources for entrepreneurs, there is no shortage of regional assets in place to support innovation. The South Bend Elkhart Regional Partnership’s LIFT Asset Portal is an interactive online portal that organizes available resources for businesses - new or mature - and for individuals who may be seeking to advance their skills and career.     

For Faculty & Students

iNDustry Labs serves as a gateway for University faculty, research staff, and students who are seeking applied research, learning and other forms of collaboration with the leading businesses in the South Bend-Elkhart Region.  

The iNDustry Labs team can assist to identify and match campus inquiries with local industry partners for grant application collaborations, to fabricate prototypes for research, source Capstone learning opportunities and more.  The following resources, in addition to the iNDustry Labs team, can support your inquiries: 

  • iNDustry Labs Faculty Affiliates: Augmenting the iNDustry Labs team are the iNDustry Labs Faculty Affiliates, a multidisciplinary collection of faculty and research staff whose research, coursework and subject-matter expertise overlap with topics of interest to the regional economy.   
  • LIFT Scholar Intern Program: Through this competitive program, students are matched with innovative employers in the region, for a paid summer internship that also includes programmatic, social and housing support. For more information, contact the South Bend - Elkhart Regional Partnership.
  • enFocus LIFT Internship Program: These project-based internships provide students to work as members of an internship team, hosted by enFocus,  to undertake technical projects supporting the iNDustry Labs services to regional businesses.  Interns receive a stipend in addition to the programmatic, social and housing support offered through the LIFT Scholar Intern Program.  For information, contact enFocus.

Grant Funding Opportunities 

 iNDustry Labs offers SBIR/STTR Grant Support services for an end-to-end resource for the proposal, including application support, validation and technical project management services available through the award phase.
